I was watching OSU/Zona this morning, and top 7 down 2, OSU goes with 3 pinch hitters in a row (I think it was 5-6-7 hitters). No lefty/righty matchup, and 2 of the PH's had under 50 PA's on the season as well as lower OPS (girls they replaced had over 100). Same Zona pitcher all game.
Why in the world would you pinch hit in that situation? I get doing it once to get the one good hitter in there, but 3x? MLB pinch hitters, arguably the best players in the world, have a cumulative -0.9 WAR and an average .322 OPS.
