Buckeye,

Got a gopro and lynkspyder?

Record on your gopro while you maintain a basic paper scorebook during the game, then later you can score the game on GC while watching the film at your leisure.

I do this a lot just to make sure I got things in correctly.

I use iScore because it allows friends and family to follow along. I liked gamechanger 2 years ago when I used it, although I can't remember exactly why I preferred it then. But it does not allow fans to follow the game. I also GoPro the games. Having the books on hand makes highlight videos much easier.

I use my Lynkspyder and GoPro, but with running my rec league I don't really have time to go back and score the games. I barely have time to post them to youtube lol!

Since DD is injured, I let her keep book tonight. Kinda sad when a 13-year-old can read the instructions at the front of the book and keep better score than adults. Of course, we got creamed so that makes it easier: too many 1-2-3 innings, needed Jobu to wake up the bats.

Find someone that can keep score pretty well. It's pretty easy on GC or Iscore. It may take a few game to teach them. Talk after the game about a couple of issues you might see. If you want good Defensive stats make sure it's not a pitchers parent.

I wish my parents were that into it. I'm basically a babysitter, they don't want to do anything once I have control of the girls.

Middle school ball. Eh.

That's too bad. You would think out of all those parents there would be one geek who would get into scorekeeping. Or one willing to do it if someone would teach him/her.

Personally, I think any guy who can't keep a basic book should turn in his man card. But that's just me.

I quite enjoy keeping a scorebook. I used to think baseball announcers on tv were kidding when they would say "for those of you scoring at home". I've considered doing so myself the last couple of years.

Agreed on the Man Card.

What I've noticed is the parents wanting to yell at their kids instead of just cheering the game. No big surprise. Hard to stay 100% focused on Little Suzie when you're keeping book. DD is getting pretty decent at it after 2 whole games...though I wish her knee would heal so she could play.

I love scoring my younger DD's softball games. My older one, I hate it. She plays rec ball, her team is the strongest in the county, and it can be so, so boring. Last night she had 3 plate appearances and 3 walks. Just got her a new bat which I think she swung once all night. We won 19-5 and that's because he put in all the weaker players in infield positions and moved everyone around the last inning. Thank goodness someone else was score keeping last night so I could play Words With Friends during the endless walks.
