Given that I've moved my rec league from grade based grouping to age based, I thought it might be a good idea to rename the divisions to avoid confusion with the old system. So I'm looking for ideas and feedback (and no, I don't really want to just go with 8U and 10U):

Old Names
Princess
Rookie
Silver
Gold

New names I'm considering
Princess (because what 6 year old doesn't want to be a princess?)
AA
AAA
Majors
I know, too much MLB influence there.

Rookie
Minors
Majors
Feels a lot like Little League?

I dunno, hit me with something interesting that will make the girls smile...

Saw LL baseball league here use MLB player names which worked well. Helped to create a little confusion among parents (which was good) as to which was more skilled division and took away a little of the "My kid should be playing Gold instead of Silver" complaint. You can use: Montalvo, Outon, Pauly, Schlopy divisions there in OH if they are Racers fans.

My dd would have not played in a princess league. The word almost ruined our trip to Disney when she was 7. She absolutely dispised it as being soft and girly.

What's wrong with age groups? It actually tells you something about the league. Why should 12U be major and 10U minor? Is it somehow better to be in 12U just because you lived a year longer?

As chinamigarden pointed out, not all little girls are "girly". At 6U, my DD might not have cared about being labeled "Princess". At 8U, she would have complained about it. 10U?...no way in hell!! She was very irritated to be stuck in a pink jersey for the fall-ball season at 9yo..."PINK???!! Really?! UGH!!!" She wasn't the only one on her team not thrilled with it.

The majority of the softball world identifies age groups with numbers (ie, "8U"). If this was my decision, I would lean strongly towards keeping things consistent with the rest of the world.
