Not here.
Yeah....that's what I thought I was doing. Send her to outfield for the rest of the game. Calmly explained the next day (when I didn't have veins popping out the side of my neck) so she could hear not just what I was saying, but the intent behind it. She seemed to get it. No issues or anything. She even explained her reasoning. Felt like it didn't matter because it was just a scrimmage and we'd beat that team 9-0. Still second guessing my decision to put her out there now, though.

Enter your team in a Tourney ball game and the outfielders & infielders wont be bored nor loafing any more.

Here's the situation:

My question is this: Did I overblow the situation or something? I know there just HAS to be something I'm missing, right?

Yes I think you over blew the situation, they are ten years old and this is 10u REC BTW. Relax and enjoy the show. Before you know it they will be getting ready to move out of the house and go out on their own. Teach and encourage and let them have fun!

Your league needs to fix the way they construct teams.

We have the #1 pitcher by far and the only true teacher of pitching this league is an AC on our team, thus we have 3 of the top 5 pitchers. The other coaches are preparing for travel in the Spring and as a result, it's mostly unlearned parents. Here's a cringe-worthy story that is not exaggerated:

During the scrimmage, I was 1B coach and heard the opposing coaches "coach" their pitcher while she was on the mound. Their words and I quote: "Hello Elbow and sling it hard!" She bowled almost the entire time and they said "just a little higher, that's it!" everytime she pitched. It was.....brutal to watch and I wanted to snatch all 3 of their phones and force download tapatalk and bookmark DFP I/R sticky.

All Over I Coach TB
Try to be positive Dad /Coach. Should be fun at 10 especially Rec Ball. This is where they learn to love it or hate it. They have enough pressure packed years ahead with HS and College ball if the decide they love the game. Just a bad moment for her.

Funny Story on that front:

We played a JUCO team 2 weekends ago, and the Coach for that team would remove kids in the middle of the inning if they made an error...... WOW So I decided to be a wise guy when I got the opportunity. My 1st base coach got a girl thrown out stretching a single. I called time out and had my pitching Coach replace him at first......

Gotta be fun Coach...

The JUCO coach did not see the humor in my substitution but his players got a chuckle from it.
