Will be curious to see how it works.

The fact that such a program is being initiated suggests how difficult it is for college teams to get 20+ players on the same page and keep them disciplined. The time management, the academics, competing, finding your role and place on the team, etc. ... That's potentially a lot of stress.

I don't know how it will work out, but it's potentially one more stressor for a player. It's hard enough managing yourself in college, and now you've got to manage another player that you can't fully control.

This is the 4th year and it seems to be working well. I know that Senior Alaynie Page is a fan and it was part of what took her BAVG from .200 to .436 in one season. My DD is definitely on board.

I like it. Big sister / little sister accountability. This will also help them in their post-softball careers because in most professions, people rely on you and you're accountable to each other. As a potential employer, I'd love to see this on a resume of a graduate.

She calls draconian punishment for minor rules violations "accountability", and everyone loves it.

I think it would stress my daughter, but she's a high school sophomore who isn't fully mature, nor are her peers. College softball players w/ the drive and athleticism to play in the SEC are a different population than a 16U travel team. I haven't been around a college team enough to form a good prediction on how things might go. Certainly open-minded to it.

I really like the idea, new kids need someone that's been through it to show them the right and wrong steps. Those that have learned from their own mistakes. Someone to duplicate the info the coaches put out as the new kids are worried about to much and forget the small things.

In HS ball I notice different clicks for amongst the team, I thought they should be forced to warm up with a different player everyday. Too many are always together all the time. This mentorship program Smith has started would also help in not forming clicks. You get a new "partner" each year and usually someone that is new to you the first year in.
