Umpire was intentionally hit by pitcher

"Girls this age"? When is the appropriate age to assault an ump for a call you don't like? 12? 14? No wait.....16! How about........NEVER?

I think we should all remember this:
"ITS JUST A GAME AND IN THE LARGE SCHEME OF THINGS IT DOESNT MATTER"
I say that for the next time you run across a bad umpire or a bad coach or bad sportsmanship.
Walk away from those people at the end and do what you know is right!

I often time tell the girls, after a bad game, bad tournament, individual failure, or team failure, "You know when you are 40, fat, and have 10 kids, you won't even remember this day."

It's just a stupid game!!! We have had calls go against us, and sometimes our HC starts to blame the Blue for the loss... I always tell him, we didn't score more runs than the other team, bottom line.

Again not excusing this teams behavior, the umpire made multiple bad calls, threw one of the coaches out of the game for talking to one of their players on the field from the dugout, and threaten to throw the remaining coach out if he said another word to his players. How is a coach suppose to coach their team if the speak to the girls?

Depends on what the coach was saying to the players... if the coach said something to the effect, "It's OK Suzi, he is a horrible umpire, I wouldn't have swung at that ball either". I can see it... then the Coach says What? I was talking to my player... haha

There's one thing the coach could have said that would have guaranteed a resolution from the tournament director - I PROTEST. And if the TD didn't resolve it, then you never play in that tournament again.

But I'm sure neither of the coaches did anything to even warrant a warning, right? Their halos and angel wings were polished to a high shine the whole game, right?

If you're looking for zero missed calls from any umpire, you need to find another sport. Even the best make mistakes - unlike saintly parents and coaches...

Ummm, you kinda did condone the behavior, then backtracked when called on it.

While I definitely don't condone this type of behavior this Umpire was out of line multiple times that I had seen while watching this game and was just as bad behind the plate in other games that I watched.

we can't commit violence because people are bad at their jobs. Almost every day I want to, I understand the desire... but self control is what separates us from animals

First of all, the two dads who can be heard on the audio were both acting like jerks. The pitch on the video was a ball. The pitcher and catcher both need to be punished because they knew what was going to happen even though they had been told by their coach to do it. Some length of suspension, a legitimate apology to the umpire and some sort of community service/anger management type of thing. The coach, who proved that his intellect and role modeling skills are even smaller than his stature should never again be permitted to manage or instruct children. Criminal charges should also be filed against him for conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The modern softball is not at all soft and hitting someone in the head with one that is traveling at 50 mph could cause grevious injury.

When umpires start yelling at players who make a mistake on the field then we can start yelling at umpires when they make a mistake. When umpires start throwing things at people because they have made a mistake we can start throwing at them.

To that group of two or three dads that every team seems to have who hang out together during the games and bad mouth everything because they know better, you don't. Shut up!
