We started running 3 different ones starting in 10U.

Sacrifice situations
#1 1B and 3B crash while 2B covers first. SS goes to 2B and LF comes to 3b with no runners on or a runner on first.
#2 P and 1B crash. P is responsible to cover the 3B line. We use this with a runner on 2B.

Bunt for hit
#3 P and 3B crash. P covers 1B line. We use this with no runners on and speed at the plate. This takes out having our 2B have to run cover the bag and make a catch on a close play.

We are able to use these because we have athletic pitchers and catchers. Our pitchers can get to the line while two of our three catchers are among our fastest players and have the best arms on the team.

There are many ways to do it. As you get older you can't always use the same one on every play.

The key is that you need to practice them so that you can execute. If the Offense is willing to give you a free out you have to get it.

No runner on or runner on 1st base: 1B & 3B crashes, 2B covers 1st base, SS covers 2nd base...pitcher or 3B goes back to cover 3B (whoever didn't get the bunt) while LF hovers over 3B just in case. I always prefer to have a back up to all bases and outfield only comes in if they have to.

Runner on 2B or 3B: 1B & 3B crashes, 2B covers 1st base, SS covers 3B....CF hovers at 2B.

Depending on the situation, how players are playing, who is playing which position, I may pull a P & 3B covering, P & 1B covering and the other players are pulled back.
