I ask every student I coach and every player I coach to write 5 sayings to live their life by. Then, I hold them accountable for those sayings. Every student I teach and every player I coach can tell you mine.

  1. There are three types of people in this world. Those that make things happen, those that watch things happen and those to whom things happen.
  2. Repetition is no fun but it's the reason we have won.
  3. Take one day off and you know it. Take two days off and your opponent knows it. Take three days off and everyone knows it.
  4. In the warrior's code there's no surrender. Though your body say quit, your spirit cries never. Deep in your soul's an undying ember that knows its you against you. Its the paradox that drives us all.
  5. If you aim at nothing, you are going to hit it.

I talk about and tell stories about the players I have coached. That motivates some because they know that they are going through some of the same stuff.

I want to brag a little here so I am editing this. This year, my Girl's Golf Team is wearing shirts to practice and gave me one with the word's "Warrior's Code" on the back. I have never had a golfer come to my school that has golfed before I got her. I have taught every one of them and they don't have swing coaches. Every year I get one to state however, our team has struggled. This past weekend, in a tournament, we beat a team that my school has not beaten in 20 years in a 9 hole or 18 hole match. We came in 4 out of 14 teams and played in a pouring down storm. The 4 teams in front of us are ranked in the Top 5 in the state. When those girl's got on the bus, they commented on the "Warrior's Code."
