Granted it is has been a while since I have played high school sports, however, I don't remember a problem juggling work and sports. I even lived in the country and had to drive 45 minutes into the metro to go to work - but I always made sure to request that my work schedule didn't interfere with my school sports/extracurricular activities. We practiced 2 hours every day after school, and often played games at least once a night and I still worked during the school year (however we did not practice on weekends). I remember leaving practice at a sprint and changing clothes in the car (yes while driving) on the way to my job.

My daughter is younger, however, when she enters high school it will be her responsibility to make sure she is managing her school, activities and work appropriately. That is a part of growing up and learning to manage life. It isn't hard to do and if the job you find won't work with your schedule then go find another. If that is not an option and she has to work then that is life. We all have done it - made sacrifices because we have to work. It is a bummer but life isn't fair and a high schooler is old enough to understand that.
