My oldest DD in particular, has suffered from "daddy ball" her entire "career". The "A" team coach had a DD that pitched and he kept my DD off the team because of the competition. Finally, this year my DD, because the "A" team coach didn't really have a choice, he took her on the team and my DD was the clear ace. In the state tournament this past weekend she pitched 75% of the innings and over 20 innings in one day. No doubt about who's the best now.

Thanks Rockettech. Your thoughts are in line with mine. I guess I already know the answer to my question. Move to another team and don't coach her.

Don't stay with the team because you feel obligated. If she is having fun and getting better stay, but if not explore your options. You aren't leaving during the middle of the season.

Just my opinion on tryouts that I think it upsets kids that played the year before to have to tryout again. It seems to me that coaches do it as a way to cut the bottom players rather than just being honest with them and letting them go. I think that girls tend to consider it an insult that they played all last year through cold, hot, being hurt and out of position to help you win and then they get judged on a small sample size. For our teams we always found the best players by letting them practice with us over a week or 2 and see if they could play or not. It allowed us to just attitude over a few days.

Pet peeve of mine also. I just spent 11 1/2 months coaching these girls. If I do not know what each one of them is capable of by now, I am not going to learn it after a 90 minute tryout.... That said, we do like having some of our older players at tryouts to help with the younger girls. The older girls seem to enjoy it, and the 10u and 12u participants seem more comfortable working with them rather than a bunch of old fat guys. :)
