This weekends Tournament was filled with strange things and a first for me.

Our HC argued 4 calls, and got 3 reversed (never seen that many reversals before) #1 Runner on 3rd, deep flyball to CF. Ball bounces off CF's glove, then she makes a diving catch of the dropped ball. HP umpire calls the runner at 3B out for leaving early. Of course HC argues first touch... conference with BU... call reversed, safe run scores. #2 Pop up, catcher makes the catch, then ball drops from her hand as she lowers her glove. HU calls foul ball, HC argues that ball dropped on the transfer... conference with BU, call reversed to out. #3 RH hitter squares for a SAC Bunt, bunt bounces up and hits B/R (while still in the box) and kicks toward 1B... No call by HU, B/R reaches 1B safely, HC argues... conference with BU, call reversed to Strike...

It's good to see that the umpires at this Tournament were willing to reverse calls. HC didn't get loud, just calmly approached the umpires and discussed the play.

For the other "firsts", 2 Coaches got tossed not just for the remainder of the current game but also the next game, and 1 coach got tossed for the rest of the Tournament.

Recently had a umpire friend of mine explain to me about the 1st reverse call. He said no one knows about it because you rarely see it happen in a game.

Plate Umpire said he watched the catch, then turned his head and saw the runner part of the way to Home already, called her out. Maybe someone can confirm for me, but wasn't that the wrong way anyway? Doesn't the Defense have to appeal this?

Running on first touch is correct.

To me it only makes sense if a coach is tossed from a game they are automatically out the next game too. It stops them from being a jerk late in a game.

Eric, yes that I do know. My question is the umpire called her out automatically, isn't this an appeal by the defense?
