I can see the case for a good turf shoe. However, I just wear an old pair of running shoes all the time even though I have my softball cleats in the car.

I wear the Nike turf coaching shoe. I have tried most of the others but that brand, for me, just held up longer. Now, they are my mowing shoes because I have a hillside to mow and those little spikes/nubs on the bottom keep me from slipping.

Old and cheap. They go from coated in thick mud, soaked in muk water on Saturday to covered in dust on Sunday.

The problem I found with old running shoes was lack of traction in infield dirt and wet grass. I tend to demonstrate a lot when I'm coaching, and falling on my @$$ has happened more than once while wearing running shoes. The kids are always amused by my catastrophes, however.

Ringor Turfs are leather, not too heavy, and virtually waterproof on wet morning fields. Love mine. Order one size larger than you normally order.

Here in the northwest, Georgia Romeo slip on work shoes for early spring Transitioning to some comfy, turf golf shoes for late spring and early summer.

Black cleats. always! I have $9 Eastons and $12 Mizunos. baseball.com in the fall... Every time I step foot on the field, I put them on. They handle mud, dust, slop. Rain, dew. They clean up so easily at the side of the car with a couple good smacks together. They're perfect for quick fixes around the mound, the plate, the bases. During practice, I scrape lines in the dirt all the time when I'm teaching something. Flip flops, soft rubber running soles and turf shoes don't do that. Ive coached in typical athletic shoes and flip flops...cleats are by far the best shoe.

What shoes do you coaches use on the field? My DW is putting her foot down and making me buy new shoes since my are old, dirty, lacking support, and getting close to the holy side. I don't like to buy new stuff for myself but since my ankle, back, and knees are not doing so well I wanted to see what kinda shoes anyone would recommended to handle the typical coaching lifestyle.

Every 2-3 months Akadema or 3n2 have a $20 turf shoe special and I load up on them. I think I have 2 pairs in boxes waiting to check into the game in the closet.

(Same goes for cleats... my DD has her next 2 or 3 pairs of 3n2 cleats sitting right next to waiting turf shoes along with DW's and DS's sneakers as well.)

Ringor is out of my size until late July. I am thinking about the Mizuno Jawz or Erupt. One is a nine spike turf cleat, and the other is a more jagged surface without spikes. Any thoughts on these two for general coaching purposes.
