My rec 12U team had a scrimmage today. DD pitched pretty poorly, wasn't terrible behind the plate, my other pitchers were actually worse, and my other catcher was playing hungry hungry hippos with her glove - and she's usually tight. Base running was atrocious by all. Fielding wasn't exactly great. Bats were dead.

I have been spoiled by my middle school team. This may be my last year coaching rec.

If your weather has been like mine, you haven't been able to practice or play very much recently. I have little doubt that my team will suck when we finally dry out.

I am not sure if that is good, bad or how to respond.

That's exactly how I feel. I think that now, with a night of sleep between me and it, I just need to adjust my expectations back to rec level. I did have high hopes for this team, though. I was looking for rec tournaments lol!

Haha... at the start of our rec 10U season I was thinking about getting our coaching staff prepared for all-stars (new coaches) because there were only two teams in our county and we had beat one already. Since then we lost 3 other games and 2 to the other team in the county by scores of 14-1 and 15-5. Needless to say coaching all-stars is one worry off my mind. Our pitchers are getting worse and our catcher missed 2 practices before our last game. About 4 or 5 games left to keep my sanity.

This sounds like the perfect opportunity to employ the "Buttermaker" coaching philosophy....
