I manage an 8u LL team. Our weather has been hideously rainy this season. Our solution was to book a weekly hour session at a local indoor batting facility. We have three stations going at all times (tee, soft toss, coach pitching). Some weeks, that is the only practice we manage. Just offering an idea...

The parents have to realize that the girls need practice at home. There is always something that a parent can do to help. Sometimes, they just don't realize it.

Agree.

If I had it to do again, I would invite parents to watch certain drills about hitting/throwing so that when they practice at home, everyone is on the same page.

Of course, it's important that you know what you're talking about re: hitting/throwing. I was teaching some incorrect stuff at 8U and slowly learned as I did it. So that might lead to another top - Don't assume you know what you're doing. Always try to learn more, especially about hitting & throwing.

The best advice I can offer would be to use practice for fundamentals and use games for situations - constantly be coaching.

I have mixed feelings about this but If you are short on practice time have the players arrive an hour before the game and run a mini practice.
