I am pretty sure DD lead her Team in all the batting categories. What was interesting was she was towards the end of the batting order so the pitchers just tried to throw fastballs by her. Good luck with that. :)

The slappers had batted 1-2 all fall and in the first winter tourney and led in OBP. Only in this last tourney did the other coaches want the head coach to spread them out. I never heard a real strategic reason for it, and I don't think they were actually aware of how strong their OBP is.

I wanted to put this out there to see if I was missing something, but everyone on the forum has pretty much confirmed that moving one down is a bad strategy.

Another possible reason for NOT wanting to spread them out is the stress that it might put on the defense if the first one reaches base. Assuming that she's a threat to steal (which most slappers are), that gives the infield a lot to think about and be prepared for.

Could never understand the strategy to put one of your best OBP% hitters at the bottom of the order? You want to give them as many at-bats as possible, which is at the top of the line-up. If they are batting 9th, they may not see an at-bat until the 3rd inning? Not a smart move if you want to maximize run production.

To the original post, interchange #1 and #2 slappers in the top 2 positions in the line-up and see if your production is better. Some kids love being lead-off and like the pressure and some are better batting second.
