I would highly recommend holding off until after practice. I would think that you open yourself up to tremendous legal issues should you be hitting grounders and a girl takes one 'wrong'. A smell of alcohol by a parent and I can't even imagine the legal battle that would ensue.

Believe me, I've thought about it. Buttermaker had Kelly Lee and he still drank. I'm still waiting for mine to ride her motorcycle through the outfield.

Hold off till after.... Unless of course you are in fact coaching the Bad News Bears. In which case you'll need a new sponsor due to the legal issues surrounding their recent scandal with the senator!

Add alcohol or drugs to any situation you're automatically in the wrong. No matter what the amount.

As the coach you're held to a higher standard when it comes to interacting with other parents children. There are parents who would think nothing of driving home from a party after a few beers with their children in the car. You do it and something happens there will be heck to pay. It's just the way our society is these days.

I give up drinking a long time ago so I've never had to worry about the "Doin' something stupid" photo from showing up on line. Maybe I should re-phrase that. "Drunk Doin' Something Stupid" photo. ;)

I have managed to refrain from drinking during games, but some of our "coaches meetings" at the hotel after the games have been EPIC!

I can tell you that a coach drinking before practice and games resulted in a team meeting and the coach being replaced in rec ball.

Also we had 3 HS football coaches reprimanded when they were observed having a beer with dinner before a high school football game they were to be coaching in a few hours at a rival field, the coaches were tested for alcohol by the police before the game and arrested for being intoxicated on school property.

Non were fired, but fined and placed on probation by the school and convicted of a misdemeanor by the county they were arrested in.
