We do 1:20 no new with no drop dead. The 2 hours must be a drop dead because after 2 hours that's exactly what I would do.

On the other hand it's not as bad as the geniuses in our district that decided to play double headers in 8U last fall. Oh, and they decided to do the double headers after signups were complete so parents were blind sided and a little pissed off.

For our rec league we do:
8u- 80 minutes no new inning, no drop dead, 4 innings max
10u- 90 minutes no new inning, no drop dead, 6 innings max
12u+ 100 minutes no new inning, no drop dead

Field scheduling needs to come into this equation somewhere.

We schedule games 2 hours apart and, especially on Saturday, it would become a real mess if a Team early in the day did not finish within 2 hours.

I wish the games in 10u were just a straight 4 innings with no time limit and then you add an inning each age division. Wishful thinking of course.

See the previous comment. When you have five games scheduled on a field, the last game is going to start two hours late if you don't time limits.

Our rec league had time limits of 1:30 no new and 1:45 drop dead. Drop deads were very rare and games stayed on schedule - probably because there were also run limits per inning. We usually played 4 innings in 8U, 5 in 10U and 5-6 in 12U.

If your practices are shorter, lengthen practices so that they're close to game-length to get the girls used to being at the field that long?

Get with the umps and coach of the other team and see if a 3rd or 4th inning stretch/bathroom break can be incorporated?
