We have a tournament this weekend and only have 10 players. To make matters worse one is a little banged up.

Since it's our first tournament I kind of want to play all 10 on Sunday. If I set up lineup with a DP/Flex situation and another player gets hurt, can I put the flex player in the lineup to take that persons spot in the batting order.

On the same note, it looks like NSA has added a Twin player option. It seems similar to a DP/Flex, but wondering if I could do the same with this rule.

All the stuff I've learned here, and I still don't really get the DP/Flex stuff. I think in that situation it would be an actual substitution? I'm sure someone will correct me shortly!

Flex can re-enter once as flex only, if removed from game. If you make your injured player dp, dp can move from bench to any position and back to bench without restriction (pitcher rules notwithstanding). If she cannot hit for some reason, the flex can sub into the lineup for her. The dp will be out of the game at that point, with one re-entry available.

The Flex can only play offense in DP's spot in the lineup. If someone other than the DP is injured, you can't put the Flex in their spot in the batting order. You'd still be able to have 9 fielders with the DP and Flex both playing defense.

As has been stated, under the dp/flex rule the only position the flex can bat is that of the dp. If you use the dp flex and another player other than the flex gets injured and cannot bat, you will have to take an out each time that spot in the order comes up. As for the NSA twins rule, I just read it and no you cannot do it with that either. 2 players occupy the same spot in the batting order. Only one or the other may bat each time that spot comes up. But, both may play defense ate the same time.

Are you playing ASA or NSA this weekend?
