Have you tried using a smaller ball and move up to a softball? Slow her throw down and build the speed up.

Are they putting in extra work outside of practice? Besides Ausserman ' stuff, I think long toss helps a lot. Even if they have a cannon, they have to get used to different distances which of course effects release points, getting used to the power needed for each distance, etc... Mechanics have to be good though before starting. We've also done games basically that included target practice using various targets on the field or taped to a wall.

Is she pointing her glove, or her elbow towards the target?...
Is she getting a stable front side to resist against?...
Is she separating her arms and pinching in her shoulder blades during the stride?...
Does she start the forward motion before or after the front foot lands?...
Is she letting her elbow lead?...
Does she bring her arm over the top, on a 45°, or sidearm in the release phase?...
You see, there are so many variables that could be the issue. Post a video for an accurate assessment of your player.

Lot's of questions without an age and some video...Does she have a proper 4 seam grip on the ball? Does the ball face back away from her when she brings the ball up to throw or does it face forward and shot-puts the ball? Does she stride straight to the target? Does she always use the same arm slot/throwing angle no matter how short or long the throw is? Does she understand touch or does she just try to throw the ball as hard as she can no matter how close she is to the target? These are some basics that she should have been taught from the time she picked up a ball.

Why didn't she want to pitch? For me it was easy because DD wanted to pitch. She had to throw to my left glove hand side 10 times in a row & hard as a warm up for pitching....every time. At the begininning when pitching wasn't very fast, she always had the confidence that she can throw as fast underhand as she can overhand. I'm still very concerned w/ her overhand throwing speed. JMHO

Guess I was right about not wanting her doing Push-Ups... lol
