Coach the coaches

Frankly I don't care what the differences are between boys and girls coaching philosophy. I coach girls. I can say this is a FACT about girls. THEY WANT TO WIN! THEY WANT TO PLAY! THEY WANT TO IMPROVE! and THEY WANT TO LEARN! and sometimes they want to take the day off. I let them do all of the above. I do it with a smile.

I will critique ANYTHING that isn't perfect and will ALWAYS let them know when something was PERFECT. That's how kids learn and improve. Repetitions and constant critique until it is perfect, then you acknowledge the perfection. Never allow less than perfect to go unmentioned. If you nail a runner stealing third but the throw was waist high...let 'em know it needs to be knee to shin high. Next time it probably will be. Then say "PERFECT!"
