Unfortunately, there's not many other places to play league games in my area. They're an hour's drive at best. Oh, and those "other" places think my park is the cat's pajamas, if you can believe that. It will likely never change. Same people have run the place for years.

That's what I'm wondering. If I can keep the hub's mouth shut long enough, I know I could stick it out, even with the combined team. My daughter doesn't care one way or the other at this point, as long as she still gets to play ball this season. She was just very disappointed that mom and dad are no longer coaching the team. We'll likely consider a TB situation soon.

I had a friend who coaches who was supplanted by the organization just recently. He was very disappointed that he couldn't keep coaching his DD. I told him, "No, you can still coach her--just not all the other girls." You might like it better that way.

DD will be playing this fall but I won't be coaching her team.
I look forward to it.
I'm going to use it as an opportunity to focus just on DD as RC points out.
Oh and and I'm going to try to steal what works best from their practices for my spring rec team.

We absolutely love coaching (both tech school instructors by day) and we did it because every coach DD has had thus far has been better at holding up the dugout than coaching. So you are right, we will still coach her, just not the team. She was disappointed because she actually thought since we were coaching she might not have a 0-20 season again.

Go find her a travel team and get your DD out of rec immediately.

Even if that means the rest of the team has to be split up? Isn't that excessive? My loyalty is with DD first and my other 3 players second, but even the rest of new coach's team would be broken up. That's unfair to those players also. I do realize *someone* is coming out of this situation with the short end of the stick no matter what.

Have you talked to the other coach about being assistants at his practices? I had 3 assistants in the spring and it was awesome for breaking out the girls in small groups or having 1 coach run girls through hitting or pitching while the rest do infield, etc. Also gave us great coverage when 1 coach couldn't make it because of work/travel. Not all coaches will be receptive but you won't know unless you ask. The worst that can happen is he says no.

The head coach has reluctantly said we could assist, but I could tell by the manner in which he said it that he felt obligated to offer it. He already had 3 assistant coaches, and when I asked him what he needed me to do, he shrugged his shoulders and said, "I don't know. Rome wasn't built in a day." Well, it burned a lot faster. I attempted to help out his batters (mine have more advanced technique already), but he would step in every time and contradict what I said. So I just stood back and watched more or less. My husband didn't like the way he spoke to me, so he refused to help out at all. I can sit on the bleachers and cheer for my kid one more season, but I'd rather it not be for this coach.
