Just curious how much the older teams 14u, 16u, practice in the fall. It would be great if you could post the number of days, total hours, and the level of team that you are.

There is much debate at the moment. Weather and shorter days come into play.

For 12U A we would have two two hour practices during the week and a doubleheader on the weekends. However, for 14U A we will probably one 1.5 to 2.0 hour practice during the week with the doubleheader on the weekend. Many girls at the 14U and 16U level are playing other sports during the fall and have more homework.

We will be a 2nd year 14U A team this year, and we will only practice for 2 hours on Sundays, or scrimmage/round robins on Sundays. Fall sports and academically rigorous area public HS's make any more than that a waste of time.

Two hours a week seems a little light. If it rains than you would go two weeks without practice or games?

Thanks for the input.

It really depends upon what year the 14's are. A second year team will have HS kids on the team and if they play a fall sport it makes it very difficult to hold practices. By the way it gets worse as they age up.

During the Fall we may try and get in 1 practice a week, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Having a practice where 5 kids show up does nothing for the team.... but that's the way it goes

Generally, two hours per week is light in addition to a doubleheader for a higher level team. However, girls at this level probably have played a school softball season as well as the summer travel season. It's probably not a bad idea to take it a little easier on them in the fall.

I have a field available to me on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I have one or two players that play volleyball so they will struggle with weekday practices. We don't use all of those days and we 18u B level. We will most likely use 1 weekday and Saturday if we aren't playing in a tournament and maybe throw in a BP session Friday night before tournaments. We will try to get in 3-4 hours worth of practice.

For 10UB (where I'm headed), I will likely have one practice a week, one optional practice for those not in cheer/soccer to just get out and then play on Sundays.

The fall is a bit of a tough season to get everyone together.

In GA we play high school ball in the fall, so DD will practice 6 days a week, 3 hours a day, but her skills will deteriorate from the start of the season to the end......much to my dismay!

14U B twice a week for 2.5 hours and Sunday evening not mandatory batting practice for 2 hrs (if not tournament). This is the schedule all year except Nov. - March.
