Most of our pitchers play 1B when they are not in the circle, but we have one pitcher who plays SS or 3B when she is not pitching.

My DD has been pitching about 3.5 years. She splits pitching innings on her TB team with another girl. There are a couple other pitchers but together the No. 3 and No. 4 throw about 10% of the innings. DD and the other main pitcher usually plays corners. Occasionally the coach puts DD and the other main pitcher in LF, presumably to keep them in the lineup. They both are solid hitters. The No. 3 plays outfield and the No. 4 plays corners and OF.

It depends on her as an athlete. My dd is slow, but is tall with a good glove, so she typically plays at 1B when not pitching. My other two pitchers play between SS and 2B...

I get such a kick out of a dad saying his daughter is slow, it doesn't make me feel so bad. My DD is our #1 pitcher and she plays first. I don't like her throwing in the outfield.

So here's a silly question. This was my daughter's first year playing fast pitch and she was pitcher, but her other year playing machine pitch she played 3rd base because of her arm(little league). At the middle school they only had her in the pitcher position but we had multiple 1b players and really didn't need anymore. I had someone tell me that because of her height she won't see much at 3b anymore. Why don't they like tall girls on 3rd?

ETA: She's 5'8 right now.

You will hear lots of different opinions from people in this game. Doesn't make them right. Your dd can play where ever she is better the. The competition. I remember hearing how Cal Ripken was too tall to play shortstop and don mattingly was too short to play first.

Oldest DD played LF when she wasn't pitching. Youngest DD splits time in the 3 pitcher rotation between SS and 1st.

At the younger ages, the pitchers tend to be the best athletes on the field. So, the pitchers play can play anywhere.

As the team and competition gets better, the pitchers are just one of many good athletes on the team. So, generally, pitchers end up at DH, 1B or RF.

I would love a tall 3B.... too many slappers bounce a high chopper that sometimes goes over our 3B head haha
