Agressive Short Game
I set up a scrimmage with our sister team, I called this an "Aggressive Short Game Playing" Here is what was done . Team A took the field, Team B at bat, They were to bunt every player all the way through the line up. Every player on Offence new they were going to bunt as well as every player on defense new also. Your thinking this would be easy like picking apples out of a barrel , NOT The infields was pressured from every position relying on back-ups being in their position to making plays. When a couple players got on the base I turned up the heat, First base was to go to third on the next bunt, second base to home AGRESSIVE IN YOUR FACE knowing what they were going to do under pressure. The offence was getting bunts into openings as needed to move players. They loved it as some of the weaker batters were getting the best bunts and on bases. In one hour we worked both infield positions and their back-ups completely from making lead runner outs to outfields responsibility for being in the right place for the over throws and their were those playing this aggressive. Each Team got two turns at bat bunting through the line up twice in a one hour practice. This was one of my favorite practices as it gave me runners with my complete team on the field not pulling out fielders and other players into hit/bunt and run. Coaches were in the infield coaching working each position. The Next Game both coaches talked afterwards with the same feelings Our short Game has come alive. Thanks for letting me share
