I am always looking for new drills, new angles..try to keep things fresh. BUT all the DVD series I am seeing feature 14 year old girls who can PLAY... KObata etc... the drills feature a ton of autonomy on the girls end, lots of stuff that if run with 11 year old learners...would fall apart...

I like the idea of a system, as you start with a concept with step 1, then 2, then 3.... but dang it if I dont think most of these drills would function with an 11 year old...

I am HC for DD's 12u spring team now, and we are heading into all stars this summer... What DVD or System have you guys liked that would apply to an able player, but maybe not at at the TB level...?

I have a couple of the "All Access Practice" dvds. UCLA and Florida. They are expensive. Yes they are college, but almost all content is pretty simple. The big girls do all the same drills the little girls do to.

I have 3 dvds from championship productions that are geared towards 12U & 14U girls. The dvds I have are DEFENSIVE TEAM DRILLS FOR 12U AND 14U,OFFENSIVE TEAM DRILLS FOR 12U AND 14U,and HITTING BREAKDOWNS & DRILLS FOR ALL LEVELS.Mike Stith, founder and coach of Team Mizuno takes both teams through many live, comprehensive drills and talks throughout the dvds about his offensive & defensive philosophies. Each dvd runs over 90 min. and I would recommend you check these out, they are excellent!

Most of Candrea's Team USA DVD is on YouTube, now I'm not saying you shouldn't buy it but you can check it out to see if you like it first : )

Such as: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwWn9yD6-MQ

Just keep searching YouTube for the next/previous number in the sequence, infield and outfield are there and are good starter instruction....

Why on earth would you NOT want to teach them high level mechanics now, while in rec leagues???? they'll dominate their competition!!!!

Well, I do want to teach them high level correct mechanics, but that has to be done in an age and skill appropriate progression .... If you have figured out how to teach a double play sequence directly to 11 year olds without the intervening steps... I would love to hear it!!! ;)

If you seriously want to become a better coach and teacher, I recommend the Team USA DVD's with Mike Candrea. He teaches the basics of how to do it right and we used his drills with both our 8U and 14U teams. Parents were amazed how quickly their DD's improved by doing those drills, vice standing in a field and having a coach hit a ball one at a time to them.
