Ive used DP/Flex with 10 players before. Can you use it the same way with 11 players?

For example I have 11 players but 1 is injured. She can not bat but can catch and throw and run.

So she can play defense can I DP/Flex 11 players?

Also I understand it as the Flex can sub for the DP as much as they want meaning they can run bases for them each time they get on base?

Appreciate the help on something Ive never tried before

If not and I use her as a sub to just pinch run bases how many times can she go in each game to pinch run. Is it once period or multiple times but for same position or player?

Here is the Champonship Sports rule from the southwest U.S. I think it generally follows PGF:

Flex/DP and an Extra Hitter are optional. Extra Hitter is a free substituting player that can hit anywhere in the lineup. Flex must designated before the start of the game and placed in the 11th hole if the EH is being used if not place in the 10th hole.

If a team uses more than one EH than the teams must bat their entire line up. Teams do not have the option to bat two EH's and have one bench subsitute. However if all players are batting and a player gets injured and cannot play it will result in an out the first time the batter hits and then the lineup will collapse. If you bat the entire line up the last batted out will run for the pitcher or catcher other wise courtesy runners need to be bench players and will be married to the catcher or pitcher.

Ability to play with 11 depends on the rules. Normal ASA rules wouldn't allow it, but some other sanctions have an additional player (e.g. EH) and some events allow you to bat the roster.

The injured player would be the Flex as long as she plays defense. The DP can also play defense for anyone else without it affecting the line-up.

No, if the Flex runs/bats for the DP, the DP has left the line-up and would have to re-enter.

She could pinch run twice for the same position in the batting order. However, the other player would not be able to re-enter after the 2nd time.

Another option is to use her as a courtesy runner for either the pitcher or catcher - only one position or the other (not tied to a player). It does not count as a substitution, so there is no limit on the number of times. She would still be able to pinch run after being a CR (not same inning), but wouldn't be able to CR again after that.

Note: PGF uses NFHS rules with some modifications and EH is not one of them.

Flex can run for dp as non event, but dp is charged with a substitution and can only renter once. There are many scenarios where you can take advantage of dp/flex with 11 players in your situation, depending on your objective. If you only want to bat your top 9, you can use her as sub 1, who can courtesy run for pitcher or catcher until she is subbed into the game. She can sub in for any player, including flex. Let's say she has been courtesy running for P, but you need her to run for slow runner on second. You can now sub her in for that player, with one re-entry allowed for the slow runner. She is now done courtesy running and locked to that place in the order if she comes back in. If you use an EH, you get free subs but lose courtesy runner for P and C. Worth spending a couple of hours thoroughly absorbing the material on this rule. You will likely be the only one on the field who knows it.

Same as 10 players, but now you also have a sub.

My understanding is PGF follows NFHS. You sure they allow more than 10 players? or you can bat the entire line-up of the team? The only time I have seen teams bat the entire line-up was in rec or all-star tournaments

This is one of the neat things about a DP/FLEX. After you flex runs for the DP and you have dropped down to 9 on your lineup, you can continue to play the flex on defense. Once the FLEX is due up, you bring back your DP and bump your lineup back to 10 players. If she gets on, put in a speedy FLEX to run again. You then have burned up your DP for the game, but it's a good strategy when you have a DP that can hit, but can't run and your FLEX is fast, but can't hit.
