We have a 16A team that wont begin playing ball until after the high school season is over. Two of the girls on our team are still 14u eligible and not yet in high school. They would like to get some games in before our season starts. My question is can we register them as 14A players now and then bring them up to our 16u team when it begins tournament play?

They can definitely play 14A non-championship events (i.e. non-qualifiers) and then move up to the 16U team when they resume. You should be very careful they don't get redlined onto the 14A championship play roster because getting released can be difficult or impossible depending on the timing and your local association.

SoCal_Dad is correct. The key word is "qualifier"....if they "sign in" at a 14U qualifier, they will be redlined to playing 14U and cannot move up to 16U even if the coach of the team releases them, they could only move to another 14U team.

Unless you get the commissioners approval.

I expect released players would be like pick-up players - they can move up, but not down.

Player Release is for a player that has participated on a team in championship play. They may be released from a team after participating in Championship Play, but it shall be prior to the State / Metro Association roster change deadline and shall have written approval from the Coach and Player / Parent Guardian ( if under age 18 ). For Junior Olympic Players, if the Manager / Coach and Parent / Guardian are one and the same, there needs to be an additional Manager / Coach signature. For Adult Players if the Manager / Coach and the Player are one and the same, there needs to be an additional Manager / Coach signature. This Player Release Form must be approved via signature by the State / Metro Association Commissioner or his / her designee.
