Hey guys! We start our first practice tomorrow and one of the things that I'm struggling with putting together is a throwing warmup routine for the girls. When I was coaching baseball, we did the basic wrist flicks, forming the Y from your knees with an emphasis on rotating your hips, and long toss, but that's about it.

Does anyone have any suggestions to add to this routine? I believe in our stretching routine, but if you guys have anything extra for throwing that would be great.

our 16u team does wrist flicks (15), half throws(20) full throws(25) than long tosses(15).

More importantly we always go right from throwing to throwing drills. Around the horn & reverse around the horn (making sure they are turning glove side). Around the horn with sweep tags, Around the horn alternating roling and throwing & thank star drill.

wrist flips are the biggest waste of time there is. How many muscles are there in your wrist? If you throw right, first off the wrist will flick. Also ditch any static stretching, that is putting the muscels to sleep, not waking them up. Dynamic warm ups are the way to go. About the throwing start close and work your way back, slow to begin with and add speed, once the arm has good blood flow to it.
