    Default Hard not getting Involved

Strange play in the game yesterday. DD struck out for the 3rd out of an inning, dropped 3rd strike.

It was like I entered a time warp, the only 2 people that had a clue what was going on was the umpire and me. HC is talking to DD about her at bat, other Team is pulling their players off the field, umpire is watching DD. Took about a minute, as soon as her foot hit the dugout he called her out.

I have to admit I yelled for her to run twice but I am pretty far down the fence and she did not hear me.

Everyone is looking around all confused.

Did you ask coach how he/she is breathing with their head up their rear?

I have a rule: 3rd strike/4th ball you are sprinting to base. Even when they don't drop it, most catchers will attempt to make a play, which gives any other runners on a good chance to advance. I can't count how many times a catcher has attempted to throw out my runner that is on first who is now sprinting to second because the batter was walked.

I do not have enough time to talk to all 4 of them.

Umpire spent about 5 minutes with HC explaining the rule.

If it took 5 minutes of explanation for a DTS, can't wait until the coaches get to experience an application of LBR or DP/Flex substitutions.

At least the ump took the time to teach the coach the game!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the girl be out as soon as she turned toward the dugout?

I thought the same thing. Don't have the exact wording but it involved "immediately head to first".

Our league is big on the dropped third strike so everyone knows about it. We have played teams were the girls would swing at a passed ball to get the third strike call.

I would have thought the same thing, I've seen it called that way before.

I know with Babe Ruth that the batter can attempt to go to 1st as long as she hasn't left the field. One foot in the dugout and is out.
