You are very, very, very correct on the editing. My youngest DGD did glitz pageants for three years and I never saw anything happen like happens on Toddlers and Tiaras. They never show the girls hugging before a pageant starts because they are glad to see each other. Or the birthday gifts they exchange or the pizza and pool parties after the competition. The parents were always friendly and helped each other out. If someone needed help or their daughter needed something, there usually was a parent of another kid that would help out. And like softball, you had a few that had snide comments but not very much. My daughter-in-law was asked if she wanted to be on the show and she told them absolutely not.
Like the movies always say, "edited for tv".
