ANother thing to consider about being the worst player on a team, is what position does the girl play?

DD 1 was the worst player out of 11 on a team, but she played OF. There were games when they could only round up 9 or even 8 players, so she had plenty of playing time. She did not quit from lack of playing time, but from lack of confidence.

DD 3 has always been either the best or one of the best players on her teams, but she is a pitcher. Last year she was one of two reliable pitchers, and a bit of a drop to the third pitcher. This year she is one of the two starters, with a reliable third pitcher who can start in pool play and relief the rest of the time. The third pitcher they had last year didn't pitch more than a few innings the entire season. Being the worst player on a good team can be rotten for a P or C, or even some IF positions.

The program my DD was in has had some amazing players in it. A few of these amazing players weren't getting playing time. Coaches pigeon holed them. They went to teams that played stronger competition. They got playing time in and now there are scouts from some top D1 teams coming to their games looking at them. Don't let one coaches view limit your view. You may be the best on a team but haven't realized your full potential.

I've always tried to keep my 2 DD's in the top half (skill wise) of the team. I know my daughter's, and softball needs to be fun and not a grind.

In Canada we don't have travel ball. My older daughter started out in Rec for U10 (Mite), played 2 years a Rep B, and this will be her 2nd year at rep A. She is now one of the best players on her team. When I moved her to Rep A, I wasn't sure how she would hit so I looked for opportunity (a team that had a need for a catcher). It turned out that she excelled at hitting off of fast pitching.

My younger daughter was good right a way, so I didn't have to worry as much.

I would be careful of advancing your DD into a league where she will be on the bench. And like others have mentioned, you really need to know your DD to be able to assess whether or not she can handle this. I know that mine would have difficulty with this.
