I don't know maybe because she is 11, and this is her second year playing and this fall is her first in anything other than rec. And as I parent it didn't occur to me to go tell her to stretch between innings, my mistake, just trying to learn as we go.

Our Coaches last year didn't always let pitchers warm up before putting them in a game.

Believe parents have to be childs Advocates. Some Coaches think they are all that.

Best to keep an eye on what happens during games.

This is a good learning experience for you & DD. If you miss warm-ups, you gotta get at it when you can. Conflicts happen, and maybe the coach was preoccupied.

Its tough as a parent to let this stuff happen. But, maybe next time (in the car on the way there) you could remind her that she is going to be late for warm-ups and she need to grab a friend and loosen up quickly and continue between innings...

It's difficult for a new softball parent to remember that coaches have a dozen or so players to keep track of. Who is showing up when sometimes is not forefront in their mind. It is up to the parent and the player in this sort of situation to get some amount of warm up in ASAP and more in between innings if necessary. Coaches have a lot on their minds and sometimes they need a reminder.

So yesterday was league night they play two games one at 6 and one at 7:30. DD 11 is one of two catchers, however another player has played when needed and enjoyed it. I had told the coach that we were going to there right at 6 because DD is in the middle school play and rehearsal runs until 5:30 and it's a 25 minute drive. This is the last night of the two nights where there was a conflict. Last week he put her last in the order and had her play left and then catch the second game. Last night she gets there at 5:58 and immediately has to gear up and get behind the plate with no stretching or warm up throws because the other catcher had a sore back. So she caught the first game and had one of her best games behind the plate. I was thinking the other catcher must be feeling better since she hit the whole first game and seemed ok. But no DD back behind the plate for game two. Now my DD is a beast and a gamer but today her arm is sore from no warm ups . Should I have said something or as Dad I need to just suck it up.

Has she caught two back to back games recently? Her arm might just be sore from that. That's a lot of throwing if she is not used to it. Either way, it's a good learning experience as long as she is sore and not injured...

That was the first time catching two back to back. In rec it was just one game a day and this year she splits with the other catcher. Thank you all for the good responses.
