Talk about a long weekend. This past weekend my dd played in her first PGF sanctioned showcase tourney. Which happened to be 18U's. Not sure if some of you know, but my dd is a 2020 grad. So Saturday, the first day, it was a big stage for her and some of the other younger girls on our team. We only have one senior on our team, two juniors, nine sophomores, two freshman and one eighth grader. Because of PGF we had to play 18's because of the senior we recently brought on. Anyways, stage is set and here we go. We won the first team, which was cool. Second team was a Firecrackers team, we lost to them and last game was a team called Smash, and lost to them. Now heres the cool thing we only lost these games by a few runs, nothing really blown out. Past weekend we have been playing some other 16-18U teams and have been blowing them out of the water. We just thought that those were really weaker 18U teams and we should be facing better teams. However with our girls being as young as they are, we just figured maybe we're that good. Well the girls almost needed to loose to eat some "humble pie". One it gets you better, two, you realize how well you can hang with those big dog teams.

Well how did WarriorAngela do the first day.................. Horrible! LOL

Went 0-6, on the stick, ALL STRIKEOUTS! She pitched in the last game and got one strikeout on a girl, but we did have some errors and it costed us. She had a long inning and they pulled her in the 4th. I'm ok with that. She was mad on the "not hitting" part. I told her that yea "you are facing some of the best pitchers and you have moved up two divisions. I cant be disappointed, and neither should you." Its learning weekend. That night we got home and Warriormama passed out and went to bed, warriorangela and I were watching the Dodger game. It got her pumped up some for Sunday. She was still moping around the house though. I asked her, "what would make you feel better right now?" Her reply was "some ice cream!" So we snuck away and got some Dairy Queen. Well she was happier!

Sunday was WAAAAAAAYYY better day for WA. Went right up to the plate against a Gold team and finally got a hit. Which was a double with an RBI to boot. Not a real hard hit, but enough to get the job done. Second time up to bat, another standup double, this time to the fence. We thought it was going over. So smiles ear to ear after that game.We tied that "gold team." Last game of the day, we have faced this team in the past. They are a local team to us. So scrimmages and friendlies. So we knew what we were up against. We have always beat them and this game was another win for us. Our new arm and WA tagged team on the pitching and we went home. However with their pitching Vs the Gold teams pitching, it was night and day. We went from 60 mph to 48mph pitching. So WA struck out swinging and didn't make the adjustments. LOL So whatever.

So after all that, I just let her know, nothing to be ashamed about. We need to work on things and one day in 18's you'll be the "BEAST" till then, lets bring it back down and fun!

A little background on this "PGF sanctioned showcase"... The event was put on by Surf City Tourneys, which has been one of the very top showcase organizers in the country, long before PGF came into existence. SCT's founders, Gary Haning (OC Batbuster head) and Dan Hay, are also a couple of PGF's founders. Prior to PGF, SCT's events weren't sanctioned. The only reason they're sanctioned now is to boost PGF.

Congrats to your girl for this milestone! Our first venture into PGF, those teams pushed us down, kicked dirt in our faces, and stole our lunch money.

Our girls loved every minute of it.

Well it was crazy cause past weekend we have been playing local 18U travel teams and have been putting on the hurt. Played 4 teams on a Sunday a few weekends ago and score was 49-5. WA and our Ace pitcher both had games where no runs came across. If we lost at PGF with high football scores it would have been ok, but it showed our daughters can compete. Over the PGF weekend we gave up a total of 12 runs and scored 12 runs for 5 games. So not a bad weekend.....
