Ok so lots of cerveza this past weekend and no yellowtails for me. Really bummed too. One guy even caught a bluefin out there. So that was low for me......

Highs are- Looking forward to this weekend with allstar states this coming up weekend. Anyone else coming out to Lancaster Ca?

I recapped our week in Longmont in a thread called "night espy" in the softball discussions forum. Team didn't play great softball but it was very nice meeting Knightsb and Crankermo.

DD team played in the IDT in Longmont 16's . I wasn't able to attend but the team had a good week and from what I hear DD had a good week hitting and fielding hit some Dingers she said the ball carries great there. The finished 2nd in their pool and tied for 9th I believe in the bracket tournament. Just glad she had a fun time and made it home safe! Now time for Legacy and PGF then School Ball!

We have done Lancaster in July before. I really don't have any wish to do that again. We were there for A-States in May. It wasn't terrible.

As for my weekend...
Good: Drank a lot of beer, grilled some steaks, floated in my pool, helped my DD with a couple of good tee sessions, took a nap.
Not so good: Forgot to put on suncreeen while floating in the pool.

DD and DH made it home from Colorado yesterday...they played all the way up to 10:40 Saturday night...Super 64 bracket. Girls played hard all day Saturday, but petered out Saturday night. DD said most of the girls were done and didn't want to stay on Sunday. Bad attitude but oh well. They placed 9th (tied with others). We were very proud of how Texas represented the top 10 with winner being not even 15-20 min from where we live. Super impressed that they beat Rico's team. :) And we have played SI before...lost but like 8-2 (and could have totally played better than we did).

I, otoh, spent the weekend at my parents' house with my boys. Did a whole lot of nothing...ate a lot too (yummy bbq baby back ribs, wings, corn on cob, garlic mash potatoes, green beans and lots of sangria LOL).

If this is the players first time playing in the State tournament, they will have lots of fun. The parade of teams, dressing up in costumes, and trading pins is much fun for the girls. DD was in Lancaster the last two years for State and both times advanced to Western Nationals. The overall competition is strong and in many ways, more competitive then Nationals, since you will only be playing teams that are from SoCal (NorCal has there own State tournament). Lancaster can be very hot and windy in July, so plan accordingly. Pop-up tents are a must but at least there are some shade trees near the fields.

Good luck.

Agreed. It's an awesome experience for the girls.

As for pop ups, be sure to include some significant wind anchors or you will be chasing your tent to Victorville.
