Lil DD got to meet her favorite player today...she was nice enough to take her big sis along for the ride. Bonus, the game was televised so I saw them behind home plate pitch after pitch....not the best camera presence but they did do the wave for me once or twice.

Nice pic Squeeze! Times they won't soon forget. My DD got to meet her two favorite players a while back Keilani Ricketts and Jackie "J Train" Traina. I knew these girls were big, but wholly cow. Not too often I get guys that look me in the eye let alone two ladies lol. Close enough to go "whoa" anyway! These ladies were extremely generous with their time and had a lot of class as well. Couldn't get the Traina pic to go but here's the other one.

cool. she looks happy to be the tallest :)

I think JJs Lil DD is the one with the Corona Angels shirt....

Cool pic and it's nice to see the players hanging with the fans. DD had her bat signed by Crystl Bustos last year when she was doing a road trip in SoCal.

correctamundo....the tall one is her 12 year old sister, she gets a kick out of being taller than some college players.

The girls said Katie was the nicest person, she talked to them about how her father is like her best friend and how he can still help her with her pitches just based on what she describes to him over the phone. I guess all those hours on the bucket gave him an intimate understanding of her motion. I think a lot of us pitcher dads can relate to that. Even if we are not pros, those tens of thousands of pitches and constant tinkering and learning do create a lot of value, and the hours and hours of practice, car rides etc. do create special bonds, if done right, with our daughter's that are truly unique in a father daughter relationship.

She was really generous with her time and told them if they ever have any questions along the journey that they can feel free to contact her.

They would not have been able to have this opportunity if it wasn't for DFP, maybe they would have met her, but because of this board I was able to get a heads up to her through her dad, she was able to know they were coming. So instead of it just being a couple of random kids asking for a picture there was a little familiarity there that made it really special for them.

One thing I truly respect about 99% of these young women playing college ball is the time they give back to the younger girls. It's one thing to sign autographs after a game but it is another to make time to actually talk to these girls. It is a big deal for a 10yo girl to get her picture taken with her hero and it seems the players truly understand that.
