My 12u DD played her first tournament with her new team this past weekend.
In her second game of the day, first at-bat (3rd of the season) my DD cranks a 3-2 pitch a good 10' over the left-center fence with bases loaded.
The DW and I are screaming wildly, high-fiving other team parents as we watch her round the bases. As she reaches home plate and gets buried by her new team, I lose it. I'm overcome by emotion and pride, fighting back the tears. DW has tears streaming down her face, and I chuckle to her, "Great, now coach is going to expect that all the time."
Then the realization sinks in: Her first home run. Ever. A grand-slam.
I didn't get it on tape but visions of her smile as she rounded the bases and the feelings (holy cow, the feelings!) that hit my heart as she was greeted at home by her team are better than any digital memory I could imagine. For her it must be ten-fold.
Three days later and DD is still bouncing off the walls and I'm still a bristling proud papa. Good times.
