You know the situation. School is out and you have a half hour to get ready for the one hour drive to practice, which only takes 20 minutes on the weekend.

Or the practice that runs at the awkward time of 6-8. You don't want them to be too full for practice, but they're starving when they finish.

What kind of things do you feed your girls?

Hard boiled eggs and cheese sticks, sometimes with two slices of bacon and pretzels.
Yogurt with honey oat granola bar crunched in and berries if in season

My soccer dd has 20 minutes between school out and car pool pick up. It's 4 days a week, 30min drive, 2 hour practice, and 30 min back. She eats almost exclusively pb and j sandwiches or cheese quesadillas and pretzels. Not the most healthy and she is always starved when she gets home, but that is all she ever wants.

Pretty much anything from the .99 cent menu at Mcds or BK or peanut butter crackers and a large bottle of water.

We were usually 30-45 mins from practice and in a hurry like you so I made meals on Sunday night that would get us thru the week. I always made baked chicken, usually boneless skinless thighs, and packages of steamable vegetables. I would seperate into small containers with about 4oz of chicken and 4-6oz of vegetables. I liked the broccoli, rice and cheese cause it gave flavor to the chicken.

I would also make a concoction of brown rice, ground turkey, kidney beans, and mixed vegetables. I would fill a gallon container and leave a 1cup scoop in it so she knew how much to get. She may put dog sauce, A1, ketchup or whatever else on it cause it was a little dry.

If she didn't want "real food" before practice she would usually have a protein shake consisting of 1 scoop of protein powder, 1/2 banana, 1/4 cup of ground oats and 6 oz of milk. Milk didn't bother her right before practice, but may some kids. I also made muffins made with protein powder, ground oats, eggs, nutmeg, allspice and baby food of choice. Depending on the baby food it could be banana nut or carrot cake.

This is are just what my kid liked, we got ideas from others and tweaked for us. But you want to stay away from heavy carbs right before practice, no pasta, potatoes things like that. Lay off fattening foods as well. Get some clean carbs, protein and a little simple carbs(like Gatorade). Subway is about as good as it gets for fast-food.

love if they had time for a plate of pasta, because it does not have to be warm or even have tomato sauce to be good. Could be vegetables. Or a healthy baked potato. Protein is better after, particularly if it is hot out.

Seriously, where in the world do you find this crap??? Pasta and baked potato just before practice?? And apparently, which I guess I had no clue, your body does not need protein when it is hot outside or before any strenuous activity.
