Which hitter has more pressure at the plate.

Kid A- Bats 3rd or 4th in a weak hitting lineup. Almost expected to get a hit every time up.

Kid B - Is the 9-11th player on a loaded TB roster and gets up 2-3 times total on a Saturday and knows that they need to product or sit out on Sunday.

Get used to it if you plan to play in college.

Kid B-

Kid A is approaching the pressure from the standpoint of "I am good and that is why I am here"

Kid B is approaching the pressure from "I am bad that is why I am here"

The positive aspect of being counted on because you are good relieves some pressure. Also there are probably no consequences for a single at bat if you are a top hitter on a team. But if you are on the bottom, the hits are seen as the flukes and there are consequences for failure (sitting).

If the hitter doesn't pressure themself equally in any hitting situation then I'd say you have an issue.

As a coach I make my line-up thinking everyone will hit/get on base. Yes there are some weaker hitters I may bunt or try to spread out to minimize my outs, but overall I expect everyone to hit the ball!

Those I don't expect to hit sit.

Mentality at the plate is highly important and without the right mentality you will not hit. No matter your spot your goal should be to put the bat on the ball no matter what situation you find yourself in.

That's why my dd works so hard on hitting. She pitches and understands that if she gets the chance to play in college. As a pitcher she will have to wait her turn if she ever does get a turn, but if you can hit the snot out of the ball. They will find room for you.

Freshman on DD's college team brings it at 65mph but needs some work before she is college ready. But she is hitting 4th or 5th every game because she can definitely hit. She may be the X-Factor for this season.
