I know people that did. I know people that bought a house Sat. AM and put their kid in a competing school Monday morning.

I mostly know of boys that changed HS's for sports.

Out of the 4 or 5 cases, that I know of, it went well for the kid.

Similar situation my sister held my nephew (pitcher) back in 8th grade so he could mature. Went through HS as the oldest kid in class instead of the youngest. Great decision that worked out very well..

Cannot imagine changing schools for softball since 95% or more of recruiting is done through TB.

transfer

We were talking about this tonight at a game. Seems like quite a few transfer from our school and it's mainly boys. One girl recently transferred and is so much happier. After this season, it's looking like a good idea!
Seriously, we wouldn't transfer but I understand why some do now.

For most girls, HS softball is it. They won't be going any further. So, if mine wanted to transfer and sit out a year, I would listen. But, you aren't guaranteed that the coach that you want would even be at the HS, the next year.

Here in this county, the education is equal. The softball is not.

I would LOVE to switch schools for HS coaching reasons. These guys are absolute clowns. DD is playing about a poorly as Ive ever seen. She's lost her love for the game. However, its just not logistically feasible with having two kids.

I feel for you James. I got the dreaded "how upset would you be if I quit softball?" She's calmed down a bit...me, not so much:). Counting down the games!

Boys typically switch schools for athletic reasons, they get much more college level exposure than the female side.

We had a girl transfer into my DD's school for "softball" as a sophomore. Her mother was the school officer, our district has a rule if a parent was employed by _____ school, the child could choose to go there or the school where they are zoned by housing.

I do know several parents who enrolled their kids ( girls and boys ) in private schools as freshman, because of better athletic programs.
