We don't have MS softball here but the sentiment is pretty bad at HS. The coachs aren't well thought of. Havn't watched many games but was not impressed. The origanl Post and later post would describe the MS Volley ball match I just come from so it ain't just softball coaching that stinks.

Since DD is just moving into MS it is a great experience. She has meet 4 or 5 teachers, that would not have known her, and about 20 new girls she would have not have known either.

If she plays again next year it will not be as exciting, just softball again.

And the "personal" experience will get better. Having and being part of a MS sport builds a sisterhood and bonds the players together in preperation for HS. Sure they will have little spats just like friends always do, but for the most part they are "part" of an elite group who represents their classmates and school.

I know mine enjoys game day, all the players wear their game jersey tops to school and non players wear school t-shirts with the teams logos. That's a good feeling roaming the halls and everyone knows later that day you will be battling on the field. The following day the morning announcements include key players names and plays they made.

DD said that during playoffs the whole school will applaud and erupt after the morning announcement of a victory and especially the elimination of a rival school. Cheering of 1500+ of your fellow students is surely a good payment for the many hours and sacrifice that the sport demands.

Quincy, THAT is what your DD will grow to love about school ball.
