There are different levels of TB. If you are on a C or low B team, playing time is usually equally spread. As you move it, and teams before more competitive, and playing time is earned vs. expected.
So...
If there is a clear difference, then yes I agree that clearly better players get to play where they will best help the team. If that means the AC's daughter plays OF when she want to play IF then so be it if there is a clearly superior option. If it is that clear that is not how it is going to be, then you may have to move teams, talk to the coaches, coach yourself, take some sort of positive action...
Now the somewhat opposite side of this...
As a regular head coach of my own DD, if it is close call on who is the better option, then you better believe my DD gets the opportunity first. I was WAY too hard on my DD when I first started coaching her (trying to avoid Daddy Ball comments) and then I realized wait a second, I am out here ALL the time and putting up with all the HC issues anyway and my DD is right here with me all the time working hard. She deserves the chance she has earned.
And if someone doesn't like that, well they can volunteer to coach next season/start their own team/find another team/etc.
Note: Fortunately my DD has so far proven worthy of her chances and I have never heard a word about it but that is not the point. And I was thrilled on the team she just played on that I didn't coach that she earned her opportunities there as well.
